Acute foreign exchange shortages;

Smuggling which is bringing unfair
business competition to producers
in the country; High logistics costs;

Now, what can we do to address some
of these things, Honourable Minister,

Madam PS, Distinguished Guests We
recommend that Government should

among other things Improve energy
production and supply;

Curb smuggling which not only affects
our businesses but also deprives the
Malawi Government of the much-

needed tax revenues;

Rehabilitate the Malawi railway system

and transport corridor development to
reduce costs of freight transport;

Request financial capital lenders to
prioritize finance allocation to the

productive sectors through agencies
such as EDF, the Malawi Agriculture

and Industrial Investment Corporation
as well as our commercial banks;
